Interchange


The interchange tools allow for the creation of exportable MESH or CAD objects.


Mesh

The mesh tool allows you to a create a Mesh from a thickened lattice, surface, or solid body.

  1. Select object to mesh

  2. Apply mesh resolution, values are between 0 and 1, where 0 is the lowest resolution and 1 is the highest resolution.

  3. Node smoothing tries to smooth out the nodes in a lattice structure. 

  4. Face edge length - Parasolid (TM) objects only

    1. Sets the edge length of each face, a lower number increases the number of faces in the object.

  5. Mesh Cleanup ensures the mesh is watertight. Turning it off will speed up the algorithm but the result may not be manifold.

  6. 'Reduce mesh by' lowers the triangle count of the mesh by a percentage. Values are between 0 and 0.95. For example, a value of 0.6 will reduce the triangle count by 60%.

  7. Refine & Smooth will both smooth the resulting mesh (Laplacian) as well as subdivide it. 

Output

A mesh file is outputted and becomes the active object in the scene. The mesh file can be exported as a STL, OBJ, PLY, OFF, SSJ, or 3MF file format.

CAD

CAD Interchange enables the creation of a Parasolid(TM) body from a thickened lattice. Creating a Parasolid(TM) body from a thickened lattice works best on non-round thickened lattices. Depending on the complexity of your lattice structure, this algorithm may return a non-ideal result.

  2. Include nodes includes the intersection points of the beams.

  3. Generate CAD Object to be exported to other CAD softwares

 

 

 

Output

A parasolid object is created and becomes the active object in the scene.
