**Lattice Tools**

**Generate**

The Generate tool allows you to create a volume or surface lattice from a mesh or CAD body.

### Select object (optional)

Select an object to generate a lattice. Or, go straight to the next step and generate a lattice using the Step tool.

### Select a rule

Select which type of lattice to build. Surface lattices will generate on the surface of the object while volume lattices will generate to fill the design space of the object.

### Fill type

Inside only- generate lattice only where the rule is completely within bounds of the object.

Centroid- generate lattice only where the centroid of the rule is completely within the bounds of the object.

Fill completely- generate lattice so the entire object is filled

### Generate

Generate the lattice. This creates a lattice for you to then edit.

### Step

If there is no lattice generated, Step will generate a lattice at the start point. From there, each click will expand the lattice in all directions. If a lattice has been generated, Step will expand that lattice in all directions.

### Warp to fit

Warp to fit squeezes the lattice into the design space by moving the nodes that are outside the object design space to the surface. This can be useful if you've got some open beams sticking out of the shape and you want them to squeeze themselves into the shape.

### apply & CLOSE / ok

Apply the changes using Apply and then exit the tool using Close, or just click OK to apply and exit

**VF Lattice**

Want to control the orientation of your surface lattice? The VF Lattice tool allows you to generate a surface lattice from a field of user selected vectors on a mesh or CAD body.

### SELECT surface

Select an object to generate a lattice form.

### SELECT modifier

Select vector modifiers created in the Vectors tool

### Select a topology

Select a topology or lattice pattern.

### Beam length multiplier

Input value is proportional to the length of beams in the lattice. Use this as a scaling factor to reach a target beam length.

### Z-axis multiplier

The input value is a vertical stretch multiplier for beams in the lattice. An input greater than 1 stretches the lattice on the z axis, and an input less than 1 squeezes the lattice on the z axis.

### Generate

Generate the lattice.

### APPLY & CLOSE / OK

Apply the changes using Apply and then exit the tool using Close, or just click OK to apply and exit

**Stochastic Lattice**

The Stochastic Volume tool generates a random lattice structure inside an object.

### SELECT A MESH OR CAD INPUT

Select an object to generate a lattice form.

### SELECT MODIFIER

For this optional input, you have to select modifier points for your object.

### Select a rule

Select which type of lattice to build.

### Minimum/maximum cell size

Select a minimum and maximum cell size.

### GENERATE

Generate the lattice.

### APPLY & CLOSE / OK

Apply the changes using Apply and then exit the tool using Close, or just click OK to apply and exit

**Rule Library**

The Rule Library shows the different rules used to build lattices and the parameters with which you can change and generate more rules.

**RULE INFO**

Displays information about the rule, including endpoint locations for the beams that will make up the future lattice

**RULE VIEWER**

In the 3D view, you can choose whether to display the tessellation and neighbors via toggle

TESSELLATION

Displays the base solid of the rule which serves as the bounds in which the lattice beams will be created

NEIGHBORS

Displays the surrounding solids used to help visualize the lattice connection points
